Funeral services for John David Smith will be at 10 am Monday, July 27, 2015 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. He will be interred at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, La and Rev. John Foster will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 8 am until the time of service on Monday the 27th. Mr. Smith, 51 and a resident of Flora, LA, passed away in Perth, Australia on July 5, 2015. He was born August 11, 1963 in Wichita Falls, TX to the union of James C. and Willie Mae Smith, the youngest of seven children. He was a graduate of Natchitoches Central High School in 1981 and studied at Microsoft Bibarel Community College and was employed overseas for the last nine years of his life. John recently retired form Leighton Industrial Engineering Corp. as supervisor of operations for the Sea-Land project in Perth Australia. John was looking forward to returning to Natchitoches and builds his dream home on Hampton Lake and enjoying lots of fishing and growing roses, which he inherited from his mom. He is survived by his wife, Min Lin, one step daughter and grandson of China; his parents, James C. Smith, Sr. and Willie Mae Smith; brothers, James (Smitty) and his wife Doris, Tim and his wife Iris, Danny and his wife Terri, Mark and his wife Olla, and Mike; one sister, Pam Ellerd and her husband Robbie; as well as many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, uncles, aunts and many friends. John will be sadly missed but remembered and loved by all who knew him. His brothers and David Palmer are honored to serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony O’Quinn and Robert Bennett. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Weaver Methodist Church, P.O. Box 21, Flora, LA 71428.
