Shirley Landrum, 80 years of age, passed away August 5, 2015. She was born April 15, 1935 in Cloutierville, LA.
She worked all her life at various jobs and raised five kids. She was a sweet and loving mother even when she was dead tired. When the grandkids starting coming, she had a new reason for joy and she showed it to each child. She was a devout Catholic and practiced her faith. However, she never judged others who did not practice their faith. She always had hope.
She never knew an enemy, loved everyone. She loved to bake and made a special Easter Bunny Cake every year. She loved to experiment too. The pork and bean cake was not our favorite but we tried it anyway. Mississippi Mud Cake was her specialty. She loved coconut and would put it in everything except meatloaf
She was thrifty and hoarded Bingo prizes to give as gifts. She shared everything she had and never gave it a second thought.
She was an expert at sewing and crochet. Every new baby in the family received a hand-made blanket with a crocheted border.
She had an excellent memory and remembered everyone’s birthday, even her third cousin twice removed.
The thing that gave her the most joy was singing in the choir. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Choir for over twenty years. Even when times were hard for her, she always felt happy and uplifted after choir.
She loved to tell funny stories about relatives we never knew, but at the end of the story we were all laughing until we could not catch our breath. It was REALLY intense if her sister was in on the story telling. There was not a mean bone in her body and she did not like confrontations. She liked to “keep the peace”.
She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth Landrum and his wife Cathy of Ft. Wort, TX, Richard Landrum and his wife Gloria of Ft. Worth, TX, and Michael Landrum and his wife Barbara of Portland, OR; one daughter, Cindy Rachal of Doyline, LA; twelve grandchildren, Crystal Berry, Kelly Parks, Courtney Britnell, "Chip" Rachal, Jennifer Landrum, Kristopher Landrum, Kevin Landrum, Adam Landrum, Damien Post, Alex Youngblood, Randall Landrum, and Connor Landrum; ten great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Kerry of Bossier City, LA; one niece, Lisa KErry of Bossier City, LA; and one nephew, Bruce Kerry of Keithville, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L.C Brossette and Anna Lavespere Brossette; her daughter, Tammy Post-Youngblood; her son-in-law, Dennis Rachal; and her nephew, Randy Kerry.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kris Landrum, Kevin Landrum, Adam Landrum, Dylan Berry, Randall Neitte, and Connor Landrum. Honorary pallbearers include Chip Rachal, Alex Youngblood, and Damien Post.
