John B. Bacon

A Mass of Christian Burial for John B. Bacon will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Natchitoches. Father Jacob Thomas will officiate the service. The family will receive friends Monday, February 16, 2009 from 5pm until 8pm with a Rosary service at 7pm at Blanchard St. Denis. Interment with full Military Honors will be at Christ the King Catholic Church Cemetery in Simmesport, LA at 3:00 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Mr. Bacon was born September 24, 1925 to the late John O. Bacon and Elmyra Kimball Bacon. He was extremely proud of being retired from the United States Air Force after 21 ½ years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam and spent 10 years overseas serving his country. After retiring from the Air Force, he opened Bacon Mobile Homes in which he served as owner/operator for 14 years. Mr. Bacon was a member of Immaculate Conception for 40 years and also a member of The Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulcher in which he held the rank of Knight of the Grand Cross. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Elaine Firmin Bacon; two daughters, Nancy Bacon Brown and her husband James of Frisco, TX and Dr. Connie Bacon and her husband John Andrews of Albany, NY; a son, John Bacon and his fiancé Doungsmorn (Babe) Tanasatayavibul of Austin, TX; two granddaughters, Kiera Andrews and Kimball Brown; a sister Mary Chatelain of Simmesport, LA; a brother Edmund Bacon of Baton Rouge, LA; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend of the family Father Jacob Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be John Firmin, Dr. Sal Misuraca, Jimmy Harper, Charles Whitehead, Jr., L.E. Sklar, Jr. and Dr. Stephen Wheat. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, John Bacon and Warren Bacon. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mr. John’s name be made to St. Mary’s School, 1101 East 5th, Natchitoches, La 71457. The family would like to especially thank Rhonda Carter and Christine Gulley of Hope Hospice for their care and compassion.
