Flay Rose Balthazar

A Mass of Christian Burial for Flay Rose Balthazar will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 24, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. John O'Brien officiating. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Isle Brevelle, LA. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with a recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 am on August 24, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Natchitoches, LA. Flay Balthazar, 93 years of age, passed away August 20, 2015. Flay was born June 2, 1922 to the late Addie and Jake LaCour in Natchitoches, LA. She was a member of St. Anthony of Pudua Catholic Church in Natchitoches, LA. She also faithfully served at St. Mary’s Catholic school as a cook for over 38 years. She was a wonderful mother and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by two sons, Curtis Balthazar and Cookie Rachal of Natchitoches, LA and Nelson Balthazar and Bertha of Shreveport, La.; eight grandchildren, Thomas Balthazar, Victor Balthazar and Johnetta, Brandy Balthazar, John Balthazar, Jr., James Balthazar and wife Beatrice, and TA Schunda Davis and husband Tyrone, Cheryl Reine and husband Alvin all of Shreveport, LA and Tammy Gatlin and her husband Anthony of Houston, TX; nineteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, May Rose LaCour and Addie Roque and her husband Frances, both of Natchitoches, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Curtis Balthazar; her parents, Jake LaCour and Addie Balthazar LaCour; four sisters, Madeline LaCour, Etheline Rachal Llorence, Bonnie Coutee and Regina Freeman; two brothers, Ernest LaCour and Jake LaCour, Jr.; and her daughter-in-law, Mary L. Balthazar. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be John Nelson Balthazar, Jr., James Balthazar, Thomas Balthazar, Victor Balthazar, George Rachal, and Vern Rachal. Honorary pallbearers will be Tray Balthazar, Tyrant Davis, Jr., Bobby LaCour, Earnest LaCour, Richard Chevalier, and Anthony LaCour.
