Elton Lawrence Broadway, 79, entered into eternal peace on Friday August 21st, 2015, at his residence in Provencal, Louisiana.
Elton was born on December 16th 1935, son of the late Lawrence and Rosa Broadway.
After serving in the United States Air Force, he became a cross country truck driver. He worked many years as the carpenter foreman at Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport, known today as University Health. The job so many of us will remember him as is the master carpenter he was. There was not a thing Elton couldn’t build from cedar chests, lamps, jewelry boxes, kitchen cabinets, he could do it.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Broadway; his brothers Everett and Earl Broadway and sister Doris Strickland.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his loving children: Ricky Broadway and wife Shirley, Sharon Smith, Tony Broadway and wife Katie, Scotty Broadway and wife Rose, Darren Broadway and wife Connie and Danny Broadway; his brother, Eulas and wife Carolyn Broadway Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and stepchildren will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Elton’s life will be held Monday August 24th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home 848 Keyser Avenue Natchitoches, La 71457. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 with Service at 2:00pm followed by gravesite service at Bellwood Cemetery.
Honored to be pallbearers are Donny Jones, Dewayne Smith, David Smith, Evan Broadway, April Smith, and Colinda Broadway.
