Dr. Vera Ellen (Roberson) Bonnette

Services for Vera Ellen Roberson Bonnette, Ed.D. will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches with the Reverend Doug de Graffenreid officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Ms. Vera died Thursday, August 27, 2015 at her residence. She was a public school teacher, principal, and Clinical Professor in the North Louisiana National Reading Improvement Program for Winn, Natchitoches, and Ouachita parishes, consecutively. Dr. Bonnette retired as a Coordinator of Academic Skills from Northwestern State University. She was best known for being a loving wife and matriarch of her family. Dr. Bonnette was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Allen R. “Buddy” Bonnette. She is survived by her children: Paula, Randy, Brian, and Lisa; eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Stefan Nickel, Brian Nelson, Jackson Bonnette, Jared Rauso, Ben Lambert, Don Wayne Roberson, Kenneth Gardner, Trey Duke and Danny Lambert Memorials in Vera’s name may be made to Buddy Bonnette Scholarship Fund c/o NSU Alumni Association and First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches.
