A graveside service for Jeanne Guillory was held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Matthew Pagels officiating.
Jeanne Guillory, 82 years of age, passed away September 11, 2015. She was born in Cotton Valley, LA, to Herschel and Eva Belle McClellan, September 17, 1932. She was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen at Cotton Valley High School, where she also lettered in basketball. After school she married the love of her life, Luther Guillory, and the two were married for 56 years. In 1951 she delivered her son, Randy Guillory, and 4 years later came, Donna Jeanne Fletcher, her loving daughter.
Jeanne wanted to work, so she bought a little flower shop in Cotton Valley. Luther Guillory worked at CVOC, but had an opportunity to move his family to Natchitoches and work for Placid Oil Co. Jeanne didn’t want to move but she did. In later years she told Donna Jeanne it was the best thing she ever did. She loved Natchitoches and the people and made some lifelong friends. She worked for different flower shops until she opened her own business in December 1974. Jeanne was a giving person. She taught her family so much and was a great role model for them.
In Donna Jeanne’s words, “I have been blessed to have worked with her for 40 years. Now we were like all mamas and daughters; we would fuss, but we always would work our way back to an “I’m sorry” and “I love you”. She was always there for me leading me and teaching me. She loved the Lord and brought me up to love people and have compassion. She also loved LSU and the Saint’s football teams. In the last 2 years the roles reversed, and I was the care taker of my Mom. Even then my Mama was still teaching me things about life. If I had to describe my mother it would be loving, sweet, smart, strong, giving and a true southern lady. I will miss my best friend. I ask will you please pray for me. I know my Mama is in a better place.”
She is preceded by her father and mother, Herschel and Eva Belle McClellan; her husband, Luther Guillory; and her son, Randy Guillory.
She is survived by daughter, Donna Jeanne Fletcher, her son in law Guy K Fletcher, her sister Billie Fautheree, and numerous cousins.
