Gloria Frances (Cargle) Woodard

September 30, 1932 — September 9, 2015

Beloved mother and daughter, Gloria Frances Cargle Woodard passed away on September 09, 2015. Gloria was born in Provencal Louisiana on September 30, 1932 to Dora Lily Nowlin Cargle and Robert Samuel Cargle. The youngest of 7 children, Gloria had 4 sisters: Verla Celeste Dowden, Lillian Ollie Richards, Maxine Louise Stappert, and Dorothy May Martin, and 2 brothers: Harold Howard Cargle and Earnest Cecil Cargle who passed away at the age of 5. Gloria is survived by her three children: James Ky Woodard, Deborah Ann Woodard Edwards, and Frances Sue Woodard Bass, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 daughter-in-law: Brenda Reams Woodard and 2 sons-in-law: Johnny Edwards and Roy Bass. She was loved as much as a mother can be loved by her children which is evident by the way that we felt about her and paid tribute to her every day in our hearts and minds and in her presence. There is no greater tribute than that humanly possible that I know of. She knew that we loved her first as a mother and for everything that she was for her whole life. And she loved us too, far beyond what words can express. She was dedicated to us and would have gone to the ends of the earth and to the end of time to be here for us and never forsake us. That in fact is what she did do for us and is still doing for us and nothing can ever change that or lessen the immeasurable positive impact that she has had on us and our lives. And that continues now through us. I will always think of her as my greatest role model and benefactor and will be eternally grateful for the life that I have today which would not have been possible without her and what she did for us. And that is her legacy. It is one of great purpose and love. No one that I know ever did better. She was truly an angel sent from God to care for three children who needed her special capabilities and love. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staffs of Natchitoches Community Care Center and Hospice of Natchitoches for the kind and loving care provided for our mother during her illness. A private memorial service will be held at Roberts Cemetery in Harmony Louisiana where she will be buried near her parents and family.
