William Truman Holland

William Truman Holland of Natchitoches was born October 7, 1928 in Vowells Mill, Louisiana to Freeborn and Nora Bell Montgomery Holland. He treasured the time he spent with family and was surrounded by them when he passed away on December 1, 2015. Truman proudly served his country as a Sargent in the US Army during the Korean War. Soon after returning from the war, Truman married his wife of almost 62 years, Yvonne Honeycutt Holland. After 33 years working as an auto mechanic at Daray Motor Company of Natchitoches, he retired to spend more time doing what he truly loved - farming. Truman was an avid farmer who always grew enough in his garden to feed his family as well as everyone and anyone else that needed anything. He loved his family and his family loved him dearly, he will be greatly missed. Truman was preceded in death by his parents Freeborn and Nora Holland; sister, Faye Gandy; brothers Freeman Holland, George Holland, Roland Holland, Cecil Holland, Virgie Holland and daughter-in-law Beth Holland. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of almost 62 years, Yvonne Holland of Natchitoches; one daughter, Judy Maley and husband Wayne of Provencal; one son Ronald Holland of Natchitoches; two grandsons, Billy Maley and Lucia Creighton of Provencal and Anthony Maley and wife Andrea of Provencal; five great-granddaughters, Megan Maley, MiKenzie Maley, Alyssa Maley, Morgan Maley & Melanie Maley of Provencal; two sisters, Bonnie Byrd of Hugh Springs, Texas and Claudia Voight of Provencal and one brother, Wilmer Holland of Provencal; brother-in-law, Charles Honeycutt and wife Shelby, friend Annie Lambert of Vowells Mill, Louisiana and Dottie Smith of Natchitoches; sister-in-law Lola Stewart and husband Sam of Lawton, Oklahoma, and a host of nieces and nephews. A service to honor his life will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Vowells Mill, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Blanchard St. Denis. Pallbearers are Mike McLaren, Gary Howell, Greg Howell, Randy Yopp, Bryant Gandy and Sam McCain. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Weaver, Billy Maley, Anthony Maley, Wayne Maley, Charles Honeycutt and Sam Stewart.
