Graveside services for CMSGT Ernest Allen Taylor will be held at 1 pm in Provencal Cemetery on December 10, 2015, with Reverend Gerald Roberts officiating.
CMSGT Taylor, age 85, of Natchitoches, died on December 8, 2015, at his home with his family by his side.
Mr. Taylor resided in Natchitoches since his retirement from the United States Air Force in 1971. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Natchitoches. He retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years of service with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He worked in the Natchitoches Post Office for 16 years after his military career.
Mr. Taylor is preceded in death by his mother, Corrine Carroll Taylor; father, Ernest Oniel Taylor; and two sisters, Billie Joyce Jackson and Jo Ann Shockley.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elsie L. Roberts Taylor of Natchitoches; two daughters, Susan Dianne Poe and her husband Dr. Allen Poe of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Patricia Ann Boswell and her husband John Boswell of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, John David Taylor of Las Vegas, Nevada; and four grandchildren, Jonah, Abigail, and Anna Poe and Ian Boswell.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Evelyn Pikes, Pam Williams, Janet Miles, Larry Lacaze, Corey Vick (his barber), the ladies of the Joy Women’s Sunday school class at Calvary Baptist Church, Traci Russell RN, Reverend Glynn Howard, Dr. Meg Fitzhugh, Dr. Otis Barnum, and Dr. Chris Ingram. Philippians 1:3: “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.”
