Funeral service for Billy L. Sims will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Terry Broadway officiating. Interment will follow at Lambertown Cemetery in Robeline, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on December 26, 2015 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Billy Sims, 87 years of age, passed away December 22, 2015. Billy was born January 7, 1928 to the late Jake and Fannie Freeman Sims in Robeline, LA. He was an active outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Every year he produced a bountiful garden. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone out who needed it. Billy was a veteran of the Korean War, earning the rank of corporal, and was very proud to have been able to serve his country in the US Army. He is survived by his children, Charlotte Griffin and husband Boudreaux, Billy Glen Sims and wife Teresa, David Sims and wife Tawania, and Diane Wooley and husband Kevin; grandchildren, David Michael Sims, Patrick Kurt Sims, Brittany Chelette, Robert Christopher Ferguson, Deric Myers, Dylan Myers, Kimberly Fatic, David Hill and Amber Berridge; stepgrandsons: Patrick Corley and Westley Corley. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Dorothy Mae Pruitt Sims, his parents, Jake and Fannie (Freeman) Sims; his sisters Dorothy Kidd, Archie Flores, and Claudie Marie Sims; and brothers Lewis Sims, Clyde Sims, and Reuben Sims. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Michael Sims, Amber Berridge, Brandon Stovall, Patrick Sims, Deric Myers, and Dylan Myers. Honorary pallbearers are Patrick Corley & Westley Corley. Special thanks goes to Synergy Home Health, Regional Hospice, Amber Berridge and Brandon Stovall for their care during his illness.
