Fred Duray Overman

Funeral services for Fred Duray Overman will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Grand Ecore Road Baptist Church in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Wayne Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 10:00 am on December 28, 2015 at Grand Ecore Road Baptist Church in Natchitoches, LA. Duray Overman, 78 years of age, passed away December 24, 2015. He was born June 14, 1937 in Bronte, TX. He completed his education and began a long career in civil engineering. Most recently, he was employed at Meyer, Meyer, LeCroix, and Hixon firm, before retiring in 2008. Mr. Fred was a great family man and a loving father. He married Patricia Jo Mayer on July 19, 1978 and the couple had six children together, as well as many grandchildren, whom they loved dearly. PawPaw, as he was lovingly called by many, was a social, active man who was deeply involved in church for the majority of his life. He enjoyed playing music, wood crafting, and spending time with family. His family and friends will always remember him as a gentle, nurturing person who loved the Lord. He is survived by his children, Margie Overman Barbe, Debbie Overman Hightower, Karen Overman Dickson, Thomas Edward Masden, and Ruth Masden Hubbard ; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, D.W. Overman, Jr. and wife Jane and Bobby D. Overman and wife Dana; and one sister, Cherry Gail Schultz and husband Hollis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Webster Overman, Sr. and Melba Leona Little Overman; his wife, Patricia Jo Mayer Masden Overman; daughter, Laura Masden Hughes; and his sister, Patsy Jean Overman Brown.
