She moved to Louisiana when she was around five years old, settling in Franklin Parish, near Winnsboro, LA, where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1937 and attended Monroe Business School in Monroe, earning her diploma in 1939. She met and married Alvin Lamar Tucker that same year. The two moved around a lot, settling finally in Natchitoches, LA, where she worked at various jobs keeping books. They owned their own business when they adopted their two little boys, two brothers, that became Lucille's very heartbeat. That was in August of 1952. In February of 1956, Lamar was killed in an auto accident. Soon after, Lucille went to work in the registrar's office at Northwestern University. She met and married Dennie Grillette in 1966. He was a watch maker that worked for a local jeweler. They ended up buying the jewelry store and she resigned from working from Northwestern and joined Dennie operating the store. They worked together for many years. They decided to retire in 1992, and Dennie passed away May 20, 1992. Lucille loved her Lord and her church family. She always worked in the church doing whatever she could. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Tucker and wife Carolyn and Robert Tucker and wife Mary, both of Natchitoches, LA; one step-son, Gregory Grillette and wife Wanda of Texas; one step-grandchild; and two step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Alvin Lamar Tucker and Dennie D. Grillette; her parents, James Ernest Neal and Minnie Searcy Neal; as well as two brothers, Turner Neal and Lois Neal.
