Funeral service for Elmo James Poche were held 2 PM Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in Blanchard St. Denis Chapel with Rev. Antony Aelavanthara officiating. Burial was in the Catholic Mausoleum with Military Graveside Rites.
Mr. Poche, 85, of Powhatan, La., died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Natchitoches Nursing and Rehabilitation in Natchitoches, La.
He was a native of Campti, La. and lived in Natchitoches, La. until moving to Powhatan. He was owner and operator of Poche's Auto Salvage. He was a member of St. Frances Catholic Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. He was a P.O.W.
He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Poche; his parents, Felix Poche and Fannie Lavespere Poche; brother, Phillip Poche.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jo Poche of Powhatan, La.; daughter, Carolyn Pleasant and husband Doyle of Marthaville, La.; son, Ronnie Poche and wife Karen of Natchitoches, La.; daughter-in-law, Wanda Poche of Natchitoches, La.; seven grandchildren, Michelle Poche of Houston, Tx., Joey Poche of Baton Rouge, La., Patrick Poche of Dubach, La., Jim Poche of Natchitoches, La., Pete Pleasant of Natchitoches, La., Courtnie Poche of Shreveport, La., Kyle Pleasant of Natchitoches, La.; step grandson, Shannon Harris of Bossier City, La.; great grandson, Ashton Poche; two brothers, Felix N. Poche of Little Rock, Ark. and Joseph Poche and wife Gerri of Choudrant, La.
Pallbearers will be Joey Poche, Patrick Poche, Jim Poche, Pete Pleasant, Kyle Pleasant, and Shannon Harris.
