A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gracie Smith will be at 2 pm Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Pastor George Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at St. Maurice Cemetery in St. Maurice, LA. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 9 pm on Monday, February 9, 2016 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith, 89 years of age and a resident of Clarence, LA, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born January 6, 1927 in Clarence, LA. She was a loving and kind person, who, although she never had children of her own, was a mother to many. She loved the word of God, and Psalm 23 and Psalm 91 were here favorite passages. She was a great cook and was known for her figs and pecan praline candy. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her close family and caretakers, Dusty and his wife Dana Emley of Clarence, LA, Mary Helen Emley and her spouse Clarence Walker of Clarence, LA, and Elizabeth Elaine Hardin and her husband James of Alexandria, LA; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miller "Pete" Smith; and her parents, Mike Emley and Ruby Doyal Emley McCrory.
