Ruby Jowers Matkin

Funeral services for Ruby Jowers Matkin will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Provencal in Provencal, LA with Rev. Roger Matkin and Bro. Bob Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Dry Prong Cemetery in Dry Prong, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on February 12, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Provencal in Provencal, LA. Ruby Matkin, 92 years of age, passed away February 8, 2016. She was born October 27, 1923 in Verda, LA. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who gave of herself to see that each of her family member's needs were met. She worked as an aide at Provencal High School for a number of years while her husband Cecil was principal there. She loved the Lord and taught Sunday School for many years at First Baptist Church of Provencal. Two of her greatest past times were fishing and going out to eat. She will be fondly remembered for her humble spirit and thoughtful, caring ways. She was survived by her five sons, Ronnie Matkin and wife Carla of Magnolia, TX, Randy Matkin and wife Kil of Canton, OH, Raymond Matkin and wife LaJuana of Conway, AR, Roger Matkin and wife Connie of Provencal, and Rodney Matkin and wife Paula of Jasper, TX; nine grandchildren, Stacey Matkin Briggs and husband Anthony of Magnolia, TX, Derek Matkin of Magnolia, TX, Ricky Matkin and wife Jamie of Hilliard, OH, Ryan Matkin and Hannah of Canton, OH, Mitzi Matkin Allen and husband Rory of Arlington, VA, Russell Matkin of Conway, AR, Travis Matkin and wife Randa of Conway, AR, Bradley Matkin and wife Kresha of Many, LA, and Brittany Grace Matkin of Shreveport, LA; and seven great-grandchildren, Caleb, Breanna, and McKayla Briggs, Blake and Reagan Matkin, River Matkin (with a sister to be arriving soon), and Brielle Matkin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lee Matkin; and her parents, Aaron Jowers and Cora B. Moore Jowers. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ronnie Matkin, Rickey Matkin, Brad Matkin, Russell Matkin, Blake Matkin, and Anthony Briggs. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Matkin, Travis Matkin, Derek Matkin, and Caleb Matkin.
