Pauline Miller (Long)

September 16, 1917 — February 8, 2016

Pauline Miller (Long) of Natchitoches passed away February 8, 2016 at the Natchitoches Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Celeste, Hunt County, Texas and graduated from Sherman High School in Sherman, Texas. She resided in Houston, Texas for 14 years before moving to Natchitoches in 1956. She was an office manager for an insurance company for 21 years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church and the Natchitoches Service League. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Long of Natchitoches; her parents, Bert and Laura Helton Miller of Sherman, TX; her beloved step-sons, Ronald Long of Natchitoches, LA, and Duryll Long of Austin, TX, Donald Long of Coushatta, LA; and her former husband, Clayton Miller. Mrs. Miller is survived by three step-children, Edith Long Gentry and husband Steve of Florida, Randal Long and wife Nancy Scott Long of Baton Rouge, LA, and Starlet Long Simmons and husband Harold of Greenville, SC; cousin, Imogene McCord of Bourne, TX; two great nephews, Larry Epting of Sherman, TX and Jerry Epting of Austin, TX; two great nieces, Connie Purdom of Sherman, TX and Kathy Epting of Richardson, TX; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She will fondly be remembered by her loyal companions Patricia Jackson and Regina Phanor; her special friends, G.F. Thomas, Tish McKnight, Cecelia Cook and Sandra Bradley. We thank hospice of Natchitoches and Dr. Otis Barnum and staff for their loving care during her illness. Pauline donated her body to science. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make memorial gifts to the Westside Baptist Church building Fund or the Natchitoches Service League in her name.
