A Catholic Vigil Service for Mr. Eugene L. Vercher will be at 10 am Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Rev. Ryan Humphries officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Blanchard- St. Denis. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Tuesday evening in the Funeral Home Chapel.
Gene “Plute” Vercher, 75 years of age and a life-long resident of Cloutierville, entered into eternal glory on Friday, February 19, 2016. Gene was an outspoken and opinionated man. He was quick with an answer on any topic you were having a discussion about. He worked for many years in the oil and gas industry as a well tester but also provided a transportation “hot-shot” service for many years. He loved music and enjoyed playing music with many different people in the area. He was a loving brother and uncle and will be dearly missed by his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Robert Vercher and his wife Parilee; a great nephew that he considered as a son, Jonathan Harvey; nephews, Kenneth Vercher and his wife Casey; nieces, Felicia Harvey and Stephanie Ledet and her husband James; and a great niece, Skylar Harvey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Lela Mae (Robinson) Vercher; wife, Barbara Ann (Beck) Vercher; and a sister, Betty Joyce (Vercher) Harvey.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Jimmy Elliotte, Kenneth Vercher, Ronald Elliotte, Billy Joe Dunn, Michael Tynes, Lonzo Harvey and Paul Tynes.
