Homegoing service for Mrs. Iva Joy Maricelli Custis will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Campti United Pentecostal Church, Hwy 71, Campti, LA with Rev. T.K. Smith, III and Rev Rick Maricelli officiating. Burial will be at a later date at L.C. Weaver Cemetery in Campti, LA. Family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Campti United Pentecostal Church.
Iva Joy was born on April 22, 1939 in Coldwater, LA. She passed from this life on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. She loved the Lord, her church, and her family. She was very active in her Church, Campti UPC. She loved to play the piano, accordion, and the saxophone. She was a very successful deer hunter. Her deer stand was also full of books, magazines, and plenty of snacks. She was an avid quilter, who shared with her family and friends. She always donated quilts to help raise money for many different causes. She was also a participant in the group, Louisiana Hayriders, helping to raise substantial amounts of money to help many people in need.
She also loved to travel. She was able to tour much of Europe and take several cruises in the Caribbean. She also traveled to the Philippines on a mission trip with ladies from the UPCI organization. She worked at the Louisiana UPCI campgrounds in Tioga, LA during the church camps and other conferences. She loved her most recent job with Jeanne’s Flower Shop where she delivered flowers. She will be greatly missed by her coworkers, Church Family, and her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends. She lived her life for the Lord, has now run her race, and is at home with Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.V. Custis; her parents, James Alphonse and Mary Katherine Maricelli; her sisters, Mary Katherine “Billie” Harkins and Joanne Maricelli Cannon Glass.
She is survived by her two sons, E. Marc Custis and wife Suzanne; and Patrick V. Custis and wife Sherry; grandchildren: Megan Ducote and her husband Brian; Ryan A. Custis and his wife, Kelsey; Tristan M. Custis; Carson M. Custis; Craig Harris and wife Sarah; Jennifer Quinn and husband Lee; Kyle Harris and wife Allison; and great grandson, Zach Buquoi. She is also survived by her brother, Rev. Don E Maricell and his wife Dorothy as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Custis; Troy Custis, Glen Newman, James M. Maricelli, Clyde Tyson, and Troy Woodward.
