Farris Roy Creel, 90, died Friday, May 1, 2009 at Christus Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, La. She died from complications associated with cardiac arrest. She was a lifelong resident of Natchitoches Parish.
A rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3 at the Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with visitation from 4-8 p.m. Services for Farris Creel will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Natchitoches, La. Burial will follow at the Memory Lawn Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years Julian "Preacher" Creel , son Ted Hernandez and wife Patricia of Shreveport; one step-son Clyde Creel and wife Theresa of Denver, Colorado ; one sister Mamie Haley of Provencal ; eight grandchildren, Caine Hernandez of Anchorage, Alaska; Timothy Hernandez and Heidi Green both of Nashville, Tennessee; Ray Hernandez of Shreveport; Natalie Kellogg of Calvin; Amy Bruntz and Clyde Creel II both of Denver, Colorado; and Christopher Surgi of Houston, Texas; 13 great-grandchildren Matthew and Sharon Hernandez; Raymond and Samuel Green; Tyler and Kennedy Hernandez; Danny and Brittany Kellogg; Isabelle and Taylor Bruntz; Clyde Creel III, Dyllan and Noah Creel; and countless nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Laura Vercher Roy and Slate Roy; her husband, Albert Hernandez; two brothers, Henry and Leo Roy; and two sisters, Dorothy Adams and Isabelle Johnson.
She will be missed by her dearly loved companion and adored husband and countless others whom she selflessly loved and who will always remember her unflappable devotion and kindness. Mrs. Farris Creel has said goodbye to the sweet world and its burdens and now hears the Angles' songs.
