Billie Jean Lott Gordon was born in Washington Parish, Louisiana. She graduated from Purvis High School, Purvis Mississippi and attended Pearl River Community College. She married Alton Beard and had two children, Kay Carolyn Beard McCraw and David Alton Beard.
She lived in Mississippi and later moved to Los Angeles, California where she spent a great deal of her life. She worked in hospitals assisting with insurance and medical claims. She married Julian Gordon and was married to him until his death in 1988.
“Grandma Billie”, as we all called her, moved to Natchitoches in 1999 to be closer to her family. She lived in Cane Gardens, Autumn Leaves, Maison Deville, and Heritage Manor. She loved the residents and employees at each of these facilities. She enjoyed attending church services, visiting with the residents, going to physical therapy, and playing bingo. Her favorite pastime was reading and she could read an entire novel in one day.
Grandma Billie was very proud and took great joy in her family. She loved her children very much. She had a very special bond with her daughter in law, Renee’ Beard, and loved and depended on her like no other.
She loved her grandchildren, Holly Beard Boyler (Byron) and Stella Leigh McCraw. She formed a special bond with her step grandchildren Nick Havard (Erin), Gretchen Murchison (Tommy) and Lori Vallery (Barrett).
Her great grandchildren, Kaylie Michelle Bonnette, Madeline Grace Boyer, Zachary David Boyler, Anna Grace Murchison, Ava Margaret Murchison, Henry Ian Murchison, Kaiden Brice Valley and Jack Havard were such a joy to her.
She is survived by one brother, Burton Lin Lott; sisters in law, Flo Lott, Ann Lott Kennedy and Brenda Lott; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Those honored to be chosen as pallbearers include Byron Boyler, Nick Havard, Woody Cox, Dwayne Garlington, Tommy Murchison, Charles Verrette and Wes Amos. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayburn Reins and Circe Gamble.
She was truly loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her.
