Funeral services for Matthew Dock Powell will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. John Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Bellwood Cemetery in Bellwood , LA. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on June 10, 2016 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Matthew, 24 years of age, passed away June 7, 2016. He was born July 16, 1991 in Natchitoches, LA. He was a quiet and intelligent person, who had a simple smile and laugh that was intoxicating. He was a gifted student, finishing High School early, and enrolled in a few college classes. Matthew loved his daughter, Maddison, more than life itself. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Mendy Geer and her husband Josh Buras of Shalimar, FL; his father, Marty Powell of Robeline, LA; one daughter, Maddison Powell of Robeline, LA; one step-daughter, Jocelyn Warren of Robeline, LA; his brothers, Marshall Powell and wife Destiny of Shalimar, FL, and Zachary and Jay Powell of Robeline, LA; his niece, Aubrey Powell of Shalimar, FL; his grandparents, Denice Phillips Mayeux of Shalimar, FL, and Mike and Sherry Powell of Robeline, LA; and his great grandmother, Eva Phillips of Bellwood, LA. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Cayden Powell.
