Funeral service for Payton R. Longlois will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Buddy Boswell and Sen. Gerald Long officiating. Interment will follow at in Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on June 28, 2016 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Payton Longlois, 83 years of age, passed away June 27, 2016. He was born February 19, 1933 in Flora, LA, where he resided his entire life. He loved his community dearly. He was loyal, hardworking, honest, and very competitive. He had a strong love for the sport of basketball, playing often up until he was in his seventies. He spent 25 years of his life as a bus driver for the Natchitoches Parish schools; a job that he loved dearly. He was a cowboy, working cattle on his land for many years, and was a very strong-willed and independent man. He met his wife, Patsy, at a young age, married her right out of high school, and stayed faithful and true to her 'til the end. He is loved dearly by his children, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his children, Stanley Longlois and wife Julie, Susan Jordan and husband Pete, and Scarlett Vascocu; his grandchildren, Michael Jordan, Nick Jordan, Mollie Jordan Roberts, Chloe Longlois, Zach Vascocu, Karsyn Vascocu, and Dylan Vascocu; his great grandchildren, Ayden Jordan, Cameron Jordan, Chanler Jordan, Hadley Roberts, and Kaitlyn Jordan; his sister, Gertrude Sparks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Johnson Longlois; his parents, Ve Longlois and Ida Booty Longlois; and his siblings, Cleo Longlois Custis, Burton Longlois, Vera Longlois, Garland Longlois Molstead, and Lurline Longlois Rachal.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Michael Jordan, Nick Jordan, Zach Vascocu, Jonathan Roberts, Ned Henry, Louis O'Quinn, Dylan Vascocu, and Dwane Steadman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Dupree, Ayden Jordan, Chanler Jordan, and Cameron Jordan.
