A memorial service to honor the life of Troy Durr will be at 2:30 pm Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches with Rev. Doug de Graffenreid officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Saturday. July 2. 2016 at First United Methodist Crossroads Sanctuary. Committal services will be held at Memory Lawn Cemetery of Natchitoches following the memorial on Sunday, July 3rd. Troy O’Neal. Durr, 87, was born on March 4th, 1929 to Lawrence and Velma Durr in Marthaville, Louisiana. Troy passed away June 29th , 2016 at 87 in WK Piermont Medical Center, Shreveport, Louisiana with June his wife of 68 years at his side. A visitation will be held July 2nd, Saturday evening between 5:00 and 7:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches, Louisiana. A formal Memorial Service will be held July 3rd Sunday afternoon at 2:30 PM the same location, First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches. Memorials can be made care of the United Methodist Church of Natchitoches. Troy loved life and cherished each and every moment of life with his family and friends. Never a stranger in Troy’s life, everyone who crossed his path was welcomed with Troy’s open arms to help and serve. If ever a servant of God existed Troy was it. Always willing to help others, a calling that he carried throughout his entire life. Never a man of want or need unless it was the betterment of others. Troy was born and raised in Marthaville, Louisiana. Career opportunities took Troy and June to Wichita, Kansas to work in the Aerospace Industry at Cesena Aircraft Company, which he retired from after 40 years of service. Troy and June retired to their loved town of Natchitoches, Louisiana to reacquaint with family and friends. Troy embraced his Natchitoches community with his helping hands while serving God in his church. His passion and love never fading to help and serve. Troy is survived by his loving wife June Durr; two brothers, Wayne, Bobby and his wife Glenda. Two children; Terry, and wife Kris of Gilbert, Arizona; Steve Durr of Palmdale, California; Anne Naden-Durr, Patuxent River, Maryland. Troy was blessed with two grandchildren Hap Durr and his wife Amie; and Kourtney Durr. As well as three great grandchildren; Elizabeth, Mathew, and Sebastian. The family wishes to thank the love and care provided by endless stream of friends and the staff, nurses, and doctors at WK Piermont Medical Center.
