Heaven opened its gates and Mary Field was welcomed into her eternal home on July 26, 2016. Mary was born December 3, 1915 to Homer Bybee and Ola Mae Bridges. Her father passed away when she was a young child and her mother later married Thomas Burke who raised her as his own daughter and he always had a special place in Mary’s heart.
Mary graduated from Pickering High School in 1935, one of a class of thirteen. She married Edwin B. Field On February 29, 1936, Leap Year Day. They always joked that that they only had to celebrate an anniversary every four years.
Mary loved her garden and her home but most of all she loved her family. Her grandchildren have many happy memories of time spent with her. Mary celebrated her one hundredth birthday on Dec. 3rd, 2015, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ed Field who passed away on their 48th Anniversary; her sister, Louise Bybee; her brother, Buford Bybee; and sister-in-law, Bea Bybee.
She will be sadly missed by her sons Tommy Field and wife Zoe and Jimmy Field and Sandi; her grandchildren, Ed, Gene, Virginia, Andy and wife Kate, Casey and wife Haley; great-grand daughters, Evelyn, Corinne and Lydia Field; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Josh Currie officiating. The family will receive friends at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Sunday, prior to the services.
