Reynolds Ray Dunn, age 61, of Natchitoches, LA, formerly of Springhill, LA. passed away Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Grace Home in Shreveport, LA, after a courageous battle of cancer. He never gave up, a true soldier to the end. Reynolds never met a stranger and loved life to the fullness. His life revolved around his grandchildren, family and his many, many friends. Reynolds loved his children and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers Association. He also was a dedicated electrician for Williamette for 32 years until he had to take early retirement due to his illness. His fellow co-workers was his second family as everyone he knew he loved. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being with his friends. He was a #1 LSU fan all the way. In 1967 Reynolds joined the United States Army and faithfully served his country for 4 years while stationed in Germany. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Emma-Nell Bryan Dunn.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Cecile Thompson Dunn that stood by his side from the beginning until the very end. He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter Kelli Elaine Carter and husband Ernest of Natchitoches, LA, one son, Jeremy Reynolds Dunn and wife Kelly also of Natchitoches, LA. His father Claymon Ray Dunn of Springhill, LA. and one brother Terry Joe Dunn of Sarepta, LA. Five grandsons Blake McNeely, Austin McNeely, Trever Carter, Peyton Carter and Matthew Dunn. One granddaughter Maggie Dunn. One great-grandson to be Kaden Blaine McNeely. The family dog "Lucy Belle" and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, June 22, 2009, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:00am. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Calvary Baptist Church in Natchitoches, LA.
Pallbearers will be Allen Ates, Ernest Carter, Tommy Custis, Thomas Dunagan, Terry Joe Dunn, Harland Harper, Scotty LaBorde, Larry Thompson, Myron Thompson, Randy Wilson.
