A service to honor the life of Mr. Robert Andrew Laurent will be at 1 pm Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Rev. John Foster officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Rachal Cemetery in Marco, LA. The family will receive friends from 10 am until 1 pm on Sunday, August 28th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
Robert, age 60 and a life-long resident of Natchitoches passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016. He was born June 20, 1956 to Alex Laurent, Sr. and Maxine McTyre Laurent in Natchitoches, LA. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Being a veteran was extremely important to him. He retired from the City of Natchitoches Electrical Department after working many years as a lineman. A true Louisiana outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with family and friends. Robert would help anyone in need and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved working with wood and made many craft projects with his dog, Ginger, always by his side. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson and “BFF”, Hunter. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
His legacy will be shared by his wife of 38 years, Dorothy Cheatwood Laurent; daughter, Kimberly Laurent Broadway and her husband Clint of Robeline; son, Ryan Laurent of Natchitoches; grandson, Hunter Andrew Laurent; step grandchildren who he treated as his own, Nikolas Hunter Broadway and Mason Broadway; sisters, Sherry Singleton and her husband Mark of Rush Springs, OK, Mary Platt and her husband Jerry of State Line, MS, Judy Gray and her husband Manuel of Denham Springs, LA, and Michelle Rolen and her husband John of Natchitoches; brothers, Alex Laurent, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Robeline and Michael Laurent and his wife Rebecca of La Follette, TN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Maxine Laurent.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Billy Brossette, Preston Broadwater, Lucas Cheatwood, William "Bill" Jones, John Rolen, and Trent McTyre. Honorary pallbearers will be Kirby Moreau, Louis Cheatwood and his co-workers at The City of Natchitoches Electrical Department.
