Dorothy Marie (Stephens) McLaren

Dorothy McLaren, 74 years of age and a resident of Provencal, went to be with her Lord Thursday, September 22, 2016 while surrounded by family in Shreveport, LA. She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her greatest loves in life were her family, friends, and her faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ. She touched the lives of many people. Her warmth and kindness will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was born December 31, 1941 to Joseph and Lena (Thompson) Stephens in Natchitoches. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McLaren, Sr., her parents, Joseph and Lena Stephens, and two brothers, Charles and Joe D. Stephens. She is survived by her special friend and companion, Lavelle Kay and her children, Elizabeth Duncan and her husband Mark of Baytown, TX, Tammie Westrum and her husband Mike of Humble, TX, Kathy Hall and her husband Jodie of Ruston, LA and Robert McLaren, Jr. and his wife Jamie of Provencal, LA; sister, Linda Weaver of Livingston, TX; brother, Gary Stephens of Shreveport, LA; and her beloved dog, Lucky. She was blessed with and survived by numerous grandchildren, Daniel Duncan (Sheryl), Courtney DuVall (Phillip), Daren Jennings, Mikey and Ashley Westrum, Hunter Hall, Taylor and Dylan McLaren, and Kailey and Brooke Brister; great-grandchildren, Camryn and Cayson DuVall, Lyla Duncan, and Lexi McLaren. She is also survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless long-time friends and relatives who have known her as Grandmaw or Aunt Dot. A service to honor the life of Dorothy Stephens McLaren will be at 2 pm Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Wayland Gaunt officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time on Saturday the 24th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Daniel Duncan, Daren Jennings, Hunter Hall, Dylan McLaren, Wade Stephens, Gary Joseph Stephens, Jr., Russ Guilliams, Mikey Westrum, Waylon Rials, and Phillip Duvall.
