KERMIT WILSON PHARRIS, SR.
Services for Kermit Wilson Pharris, Sr. will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, July 13, 2009 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Mr. Pharris, age 95, entered into peaceful rest on Saturday, July 11, 2009 in Shreveport after a brief illness. He was born in Robeline, LA on May 23, 1914. After returning from World War II, Mr. Pharris and his wife O’deal moved to Natchitoches. He worked for Scott Motor Company and then Northwestern State University until retirement. He and his wife moved to Shreveport in 1980. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater of Operations having received a Certificate of Merit and the Bronze Star. He was a Shriner and a member of the Grand Lodge of Louisiana. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander A. Pharris and Francis Eveland Box Pharris; one brother, William Louis Pharris; four sisters, Develia Pharris Chambers, Rita Mae Pharris Varnado, Loree Pharris Faulstich, and Lois Pharris Davion.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, O’Deal Kay Pharris. Also left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Jocie P. Pederson of Shreveport and Eloise P. Brasswell of Dallas, TX, his daughter Alexis Pharris Scott and husband Charles of Shreveport, his son Kermit W. Pharris, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Alexandria; grandchildren Rex Scott and wife Meredith of Shreveport, Kelly Scott Padgett and husband Robert of Shreveport, Paul A. Pharris of Raleigh, North Carolina, Lindsey Kay Pharris of Alexandria; nephew O. E. Varnado, Jr. and wife Jan of Many, nephew Larry Pharris of Shreveport, as well as great grandchildren Joshua Scott, Jackson Padgett and Noah Scott and many friends.
Visitation will be held in Natchitoches at the Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home Sunday, July 12, 2009 between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm and then on Monday before the funeral from 1:30 pm until the time of the funeral.
