On November 14, 2016, the world lost a great man. Jimmy Edwards was a man that greatly loved hunting, fishing, and his country. But above all else, he dearly loved his family. Jimmy proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army from 1969 through 1971. Jimmy was a proud and distinguished Vietnam Veteran. Jimmy had a love for children and could always be found holding and loving on that child whenever the opportunity arose. Jimmy was a kind and generous person that would help anyone in need, whether it be a total stranger, close friend or family member. Jimmy was an accomplished mechanic by profession. Jimmy loved music and played music as often as he could with family and friends. The song Matilda always had a special place in his heart, as well as his beloved wife Shirley's heart. Jimmy was born and raised on Coatie Hill, where he lived and remained until the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Theresa Edwards; his son, Dustin Edwards; and his sister, Kathleen Collard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Edwards of Gorum, LA; his children, Chris Edwards and wife Sherry of Gorum, LA, Patricia Darlene Edwards of Gorum, and Denise DeRamus and husband Eddie of Shreveport, LA; his grandchildren; Courtney Rachal, Chasity Rachal, Angela Morris, Corey Alexander Rachal, Hailey and DeVine DeRamus, Kearston and Zackary Edwards, and Avery Grace Edwards; his great-grandchildren, Daniel and Nevaeh; his brother, George Edwards and wife Sue; and his sisters, Linda Bynog and husband Earl, Delores Collier, Alrene Kerby and husband Larry, Janet Dale and husband Larry, and Annette Mangel and husband Steve.
