Funeral services for Edward Harper will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 06, 2016 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Campti, LA with Fr. George Pookkattu officiating. Interment will follow at Pardee/OLOR Cemetery in the Black Lake Community. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 pm on Monday, December 05, 2016 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Edward, 70 years of age passed away December 03, 2016, in Shreveport, LA. He was born July 24, 1946, to the late Eugie Harper and Mildred Quick Harper in Natchitoches, LA. He was an outdoorsman; a man who loved to camp, trap, fish, and hunt; and did so whenever he had the chance. He was a faithful husband, a loving father, and caring grandfather. Edward grew up in the Chestnut area, and later moved to Black Lake, where he and his wife of almost 50 years made a home for their family. He was the patriarch of his family, and always took care of everyone in any way he could. He loved to cook, was a hard worker, and was always generous in giving to others in need. He made a lasting impression on anyone he met and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugie and Mildred Harper.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joan Kerry Harper; his two sons, Dennis Harper and girlfriend Charlene and her children Taylor Huffman and Jacob Conley; Jared Harper and wife Patrice; and his daughter Anita Moberly and husband Michael, all of the Black Lake Community. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Lacie Harper, Lillian Harper, Zane Harper, Morgan Moberly, and Matthew Moberly; three aunts, Joyce Self, Jewell Westcott, and Opal Lincecum; two sisters, Sandra Edwards and husband Don and Sue Cain and husband Jody; and one brother Earl Harper and wife Kathy.
Those honored to be pallbearers will be Daniel Knotts, David Knotts, Cody Cain, Robert Harper, Steven Coffey, and Joseph Hines. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Coffey, Marlis Coffey, Brooks Weaver Powell, Donnie Person, Ronnie Quick, and Gary Lee Quick.
