Funeral services for Katherine Stephens Anding will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Craig Beeman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Methodist Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, December 09, 2016 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Katherine Anding, 78 years of age, passed away peacefully in her home in the presence of her family on December 07, 2016. She was born June 29, 1938, in Natchitoches, LA. When one thinks of the fruits of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Forbearance, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control; Katherine comes to mind. She embodied temperance and kindness and was always a Godly example for her children. She was a sweet southern lady, she lived with dignity and was a selfless caregiver to many members of her family, neighbors, and friends. She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Natchitoches, where she sang faithfully in the choir and served tirelessly in the kitchen for many functions and meals. She showed her strength by providing for her family during her late husband's illness for many years, and even more so during the last days of her own illness. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carroll Anding; her parents, Walter Lee Stephens and Allie McDonald Stephens; three sisters, Ollie Stephens Legg, Ora Stephens Self, and Naomi Stephens Cook; and four brothers, Wallace Stephens, Carlton Stephens, Harold Stephens, and Louis Stephens. She is survived by two sons, James Mark Anding of Minden, LA and Curtis D Anding of Natchitoches, LA; two daughters, Susan Anding Edwards of Natchitoches, LA and Jamie Michelle Anding of Natchitoches, LA; six grandchildren, Darrell Edwards, Daniel Edwards, Justin Anding, David Edwards, Matthew Anding, and Ethan Heard; and her former son-in-law, Roger Edwards of Natchitoches; one brother, Thomas Warren Stephens of Natchitoches, LA; and her loving canine companion, 'Sweet'.
