Funeral service for Fleming Arden Thomas will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Richard Taylor and Rev. Catherine Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery in Ringgold, La. under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral home of Natchitoches, La. Vistation will be Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 5 PM until 8 PM in the funeral home and on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from 9 AM until service time in the church. Mr. Thomas, a resident of Natchitoches, La. passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009 in Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La. He was born August 19, 1933 in Jamestown, La. Mr. Thomas graduated from Northwestern State University and Louisiana State University, then served in the U.S. Army as part of the Army Intelligence Corps. A university librarian by profession, he worked in the libraries of The Citadel, Miami-DadeJunior College, Indiana University at Bloomington, and BurlingtonCommunity College where he was Director of the Library, then Dean of the College. At the time of his death, Mr. Thomas was Director of Libraries for Northwestern State University. He was a member of theLouisiana Library Association and Trinity Episcopal Church. Beloved husband of Jean D'Amato Thomas, father of Matthew Thomas, Alicia Thomas-Glenn, and Jennifer Kee, and grandfather of Collin Thomas Kee, Stuart Arden Kee,and Neal McClellan Kee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given through the NSU Foundation to the Fleming Arden Thomas Library Book Fund, or to the Natchitoches Animal Shelter.
