Funeral service for Mr. Noble Eloy Flenniken will be Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 2 pm in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Lee Dickson serving as officiant. Burial will follow at Fern Park Cemetery of Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service on the 25th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Scott Flenniken, Jeff Thibodeaux, Nick Trichel, and Bill Collins.
Noble Eloy Flenniken went to his heavenly home on February 21, 2017. He was 96 years old and a World War II veteran. A native of Vowells Mill, LA, he lived in Natchitoches for over 65 years. His last remaining years had been in care facilities in the Sulphur, LA area, which gave his son the ability to visit him on a daily basis.
He is survived by one son, Steven Lee Flenniken and wife Sue of Sulphur, LA; grandson, Scott Flenniken and wife Nicole of Pasadena, TX; and a granddaughter Stefanie Flenniken Thibodeaux and husband Jeff of Sulphur, LA; one sister, Rita Vicks of Shreveport, LA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was blessed with 6 great grandchildren, Carlee and will Flenniken, Kathy Suarez, Jacob Noble, Logan and Sydney Thibodeaux. His great grandchildren were the love of his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn Sandefur Flenniken; a son Barry Noble Flenniken; parents, Thomas Albert and Mae Rhodes Flenniken; 4 brothers, Wilburn, Burl, Major, and T.C. Flenniken; 2 sisters, Ruth Flenniken Roberts and Dolly Flenniken Caldorone.
Anyone that knew Noble, knew that his character was derived from his name because he was truly a noble man. He was a noble husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and true friend.
He served in World War II as an office clerk in the Philippines. His favorite job was riding a bike to get the mail and giving it out at mail call. He worked in the pest control business for over 50 years, where he served as manager for Orkin and Mr. B. Noble was a member of the Phoenix Lodge 38 of the Free and Accepted Masons located in Natchitoches for better than 50 years. He enjoyed shaping the lives of children, and volunteered with Boy Scouts of America and Clara Spring Baptist Camp for many years. Upon retirement, Noble became the “widows handyman” where he did yard work and small construction jobs for elderly people. He loved to can jelly and figs and would always have plenty to share with family and friends. Out of all his endeavors, his favorite job was serving his Lord God. He was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and usher, and served his church for over 60 years. Noble was good and faithful servant
