Ruby Allen

Funeral services for Clara Ruby Allen will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Doug Feazell officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Oak Grove United Methodist Church on Tuesday prior to the services. Ruby, as she was known, 97 years of age, passed away on February 24, 2017, in Shreveport, LA. She was born September 21, 1919, to Eli John Stephens and Claire Ann Cox Stephens. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and a caring grandmother. She spent her days raising her six children, cooking, and caring for the home. She loved to garden and quilt. She was a faithful Christian person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Jacky Allen and wife Karen Barnhill Allen of Natchitoches, LA, Richard Allen and wife Julie Glover Allen of Minden, LA, Margaret Allen Roberts and husband James Roberts of Shreveport, LA, and Judy Allen West of Shreveport, LA; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John David Allen; her parents; her son, Johnny David Allen; her daughter, Nelda Ann Allen; four brothers, Elijah Stephens, E.J. Stephens, Wesley Stephens, and Marvin Stephens; and three sisters, Pearl Gray, Birtye Gray, and Marzette Foster. Those honored to be pallbearers will be Isaac Elizalde, Chris Bullock, Stephen Bennett, Elijah West, Ben Allen, and Richie Allen. Jim Henry and William Haskins are honored to serve as honorary pallbearers.
