Funeral services for Mrs. Claire Hargis Greene will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Thomas Rush officiating. Interment will follow the services at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm Sunday afternoon at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Claire passed from this life on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017. She was born in Natchitoches in 1920 and, except for a short time during WW II, was a lifelong resident of Natchitoches. A former school teacher and Northwestern State University librarian, Claire was also a very active member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Roger, Ron, and Andrea Greene, her grandchildren Ramsey and Jason Greene, three great-grandchildren Tori, Lila, and Elliot, her brother Ray Hargis, and numerous well-loved nieces and nephews. Her parents Velma and Andrew Hargis, husband Glenn Greene, and brother Don Hargis preceded her in death. Her children would like to express deepest gratitude to Ann Hargis, Rick and Susan Hargis, compassionate caregivers Patricia Payne, Dorothy Johnson, Daphne Nobles, and Beverly Shields, and thanks to the folks at Hospice of Natchitoches and The Arbor. In lieu of floral arrangements, donations in Claire's name may be made to a charity of your choice.
