Larry Don Kirkland

Larry Don Kirkland, 76, of Natchitoches passed away Saturday, April 22, 2O17 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held May 22, 2017, at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches, LA. He was born on July 15, 1940, to Sam and Braunice Kirkland in Logansport, Louisiana. He graduated from Pineville High School and attended Louisiana College and Northwestern State University before joining the Navy where he served as a medic. He met his wife, Libby, while stationed in California. After returning to Louisiana, he worked as a Sales Representative for R J Reynolds Tobacco Company for twenty-six years. He loved to play golf, coffee breaks at McDonald's and volunteering at the First United Methodist Church where he also served on numerous committees. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Braunice Kirkland. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Libby, two sons, Mark Kirkland and wife Jennifer of Boise, Idaho and David Kirkland and wife Audra of Kennesaw, Georgia, one grandson, Trey Kirkland of Kennesaw, Georgia and one brother, Sam Kirkland, Jr. and wife Anita of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches.
