It was a joyous occasion in Heaven the evening of September 2, 2009, when Sidney Patrick “Pat” Pichon, Jr. was met by his loved ones who had gone before him. A Mass of Christian burial to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Isle Brevelle, LA. The Reverend Jacob Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 A.M. with the recitation of the rosary at 10:00 A.M. Entombment will follow the Mass at St. Augustine’s Mausoleum.
Pat passed away Wednesday evening September 2, 2009. He was born February 22, 1941 to the late Sidney Patrick Pichon, Sr. and Zita Delores Narcisse Pichon in Slidell, LA. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary in Slidell and graduated from St. Augustine Seminary Higtweh School in Bay St. Louis, MS. Continuing his seminary studies, he attended a university in Techny, IL for two years. Afterwards, Pat served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for three years.
On July 20, 1968, Pat wed the love of his life, Dorothy Conant, of Cane River, LA. To this union, three children were born: Michelle, Damian, and Vanessa. They lived most of their life as a family in San Antonio, TX. In 1993, the family moved to Cane River.
Pat worked diligently to support not only his family but also his church communities. He worked for IBM Corporation for twenty-five years in Los Angeles, Dallas, and San Antonio. He also worked for City Bank and Trust for fourteen years in Natchitoches, LA and retired in December 2008. In addition to his professional life, he devoted much of his time to serving his church communities: St. Malachi in Los Angeles; Holy Spirit in San Antonio; and St. Augustine in Isle Brevelle,
Pat loved life. He had a great love of baseball. As a youth he played catcher for his “world- famous Slidell Creoles” and often traveled back to Slidell just for a Creole’s game. Pat also loved music and sang in choirs most of his life. Upon his retirement he learned to love traveling, fishing and riding on his grandson’s four-wheeler.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothy Conant Pichon; a son, Damian Pichon; two daughters, Michelle and Vanessa Pichon; one grandson, Phoenix Pichon; twelve siblings: Ernest Pichon (Wilma), Larry Pichon (Brenda), Mary P. Battle, Ulysses Pichon (Rise’), Gazelle P. Rose (Charles), Claudia P. Campbell (Randall), Armon Pichon (Dale), Malcolm Pichon, Elwin Pichon, Geri P. Medlin (Bennie), Regina P. Harrison, Ursula P. Paige; three aunts, Edna Pichon, Leona Cousin, Thelma La Frere; also, a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear and close friends.
Pat will be greatly missed by his family, friends, parishioners, and anyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing him.
