Funeral services for Mildred Speir will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. T.J. Boyd officiating. Interment will follow the services at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Mildred Speir, 88, of Natchitoches, LA, passed away on April 25, 2017, in Natchitoches. She was born December 24, 1928, to the late Charlie Barnett and Birdie Davis Barnett in McKinney, TX. Mildred had the chance to travel most of the United States and other parts of the world with her husband, due to his extensive military career. They were married for 51 years before his passing in 2001. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. She was a collector of many things; to her, everything held value, if not at the present, it could in the future. She was an honest lady; there was never any question as to where she stood on any particular subject. Mildred loved caring for animals, especially her pets. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons, John Speir, Jr and his wife Sue and Larry Willis; her daughter, Patricia Speir Johnson and her husband Terrel; four grandchildren, Tina Lozoya and husband Luis, Gwen Hale and husband Jeramie; Chris Speir, and Jessica Willis; six great-grandchildren, Brittany Lozoya, Taylor Lozoya, Breanna Hale, Jacen Hale, Tyler Speir, Shaun Speir, and Madison Sisson; and three brothers, Johnny Barnett and wife Adele, Jack Barnett and wife Patricia, and Bobby Barnett and wife Roberta. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Speir, Sr.; her parents, Charlie Barnett and Birdie Davis Barnett; her sister, Ladean Nelson; and two brothers, Raymond Barnett and Donnie Barnett. Those honored to be pallbearers will be Jimmy Ammons, Jim Bryant, Mike Breedlove, Jeramie Hale, Chris Speir, and Terry Williams.
