Linda Miller Adkins

Mrs. Linda Miller Adkins, 78 of Natchitoches, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in Shreveport, LA. She was born February 9, 1939, to Thomas Lawrence Miller and Doris Virginia Carroll Miller in Center, TX. Linda earned a Bachelor of Education degree from Northwestern State University. She began her 32 year teaching career at Natchitoches Academy and from there went to St. Mary’s, Springhill and Cloutierville. Shaping young minds was such an important part of her life. She truly had a special place in her heart for each and every one of her students. An active member of First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches, she loved her church family very much, especially the Fisherwomen class devoted to Bible study and fellowship. She was a true Christian that always put others needs ahead of her own. Linda’s true calling in life and the roll she held closet to her heart was that of a wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed but always lovingly remembered by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Linda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jimmy Adkins; her children, Mark Adkins(Lanie)of Natchitoches, Michael Adkins of Natchitoches, Melinda Adkins Young(Tollie) of Orlando, FL; sister, Virginia Miller Atwood (Ron) of Nicholasville, KY; brother, Robert Miller of Natchitoches; and sister-in-law, Linda Gayle Adkins Shepherd(Johnny). She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Lindsay, Samuel, Christopher, Ariel, Hunter, Ben, and Nicole as well as 4 great-grandchildren. Linda also held a special place in her heart for Melanie Bedgood and her children Kaitlynn and Hunter. A Memorial Service will be held May 20th at 3:00 p.m. in the main sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church. The family will be accepting visitors at the Cross Roads Sanctuary from 1:00-3:00. In lieu of floral contributions, the family asks donations in Linda’s name be made to First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches, 411 2nd St, Natchitoches, LA 71457 or to The Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home, Post Office Box 929, Ruston, LA 71273
