Robert Guin, 90, of Black Lake, LA, passed away May 20, 2017, at his home with his family by his side. He was born July 2, 1926. Robert was a patriot, and, knowing there was a war on, went to join the U.S. Navy to fight for his country, even though he was too young, and had to falsify his age to get in. He loved his home at Black Lake, where, in his younger years, he would act as a guide to fishermen, paddling them all over the lake and cleaning their catch for them, for just .50 cents a day. He was a hard worker, dedicating 35 years of his life to working as a repairman for the Coca-Cola Company. He loved to hunt and fish and spent many hours doing so to provide food for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by five sons, Robert G. Guin and wife Sandra of Black Lake, LA, George Calvin Guin Sr. and wife Devina of Black Lake, LA, Ronald Guin and wife Becky of Black Lake, LA, Kenneth Guin and wife Linda of Cypress, LA, and Jackie Guin and wife Cheryl of Black Lake, LA ; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Laprarie and Sarah Sweetin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Alice Ann McCallister Guin; sisters, Emma Wallace and Sybil McDaniel; and brothers, Thomas Guin, Daniel Guin, Pete Guin and Cecil Guin.
Those honored to be his pallbearers will be his grandsons, George Guin Jr., Cane Guin, Lee Guin, Marshall Guin, Joshua Guin, and Jake Guin.
