Robert Edwin Lucky, Jr., 69, of Natchitoches died of carcinoid cancer on June 3, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services in the Roman Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 7th at 10:00 a.m., in the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with the Fr. Michael Craig Scott officiating and concelebrants Fr. Blake Deshauntille and Fr. Brian Seiler. Interment will follow in the American Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis of Natchitoches.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 6th from 5 until 7 p.m.
Robby, born July 8, 1947, was the first of four children born to Robert E. Lucky Sr., and Rose Marie Homfeldt Lucky. He graduated from Natchitoches High School in 1965, attended Louisiana State University and graduated from Northwestern State University with a bachelor of arts degree in English Education. Following his teaching career, he was a salesman for Choate's Interiors in Natchitoches; owned and operated the Carriage House Market in downtown Natchitoches; salesman at M.S. Rau Antiques in New Orleans, a charter member of the Mystic Krewe de St. Denis; a member of the Agitators Club; a founding member and officer of the Natchitoches Historic Foundation; and past-president of the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Society. He was an active member of the Saint Louis Cathedral in New Orleans and the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Natchitoches.
Robby was an avid collector of fine artwork and antiquities. He had a love and admiration for classical music, the arts, and historic preservation. He enjoyed reading, cooking and appreciated fine cuisine. He was known for his special talent in entertaining, interior design and decorating. Robby loved to travel and visited many places throughout the world. He never met a stranger in his path. He was known for his kindheartedness, humor, and generosity. He loved spending time with family and friends. Most of all he adored being with his love Loren, his children and his precious grandchildren he loved so dearly.
He is survived by his son, Robert Edwin Lucky, III, (Trey) of Natchitoches; his daughter, Lise Margaret Lucky Bras, and her husband, Dr. Jose’ Joaquin Bras of Lexington, KY; his granddaughter, Ana Lise Bras, and grandson Jose’ Joaquin Bras III, both of Lexington, KY; and loving partner, Loren Ann Ford, of Natchitoches.
He is also survived by his sister, Karen Lucky Corkern and husband Ronald Eston Corkern, Jr., of Natchitoches; his brother, Randall Mark Lucky and wife, Carol Lancaster Lucky of Shreveport; and Pamela Lucky Hetherwick and husband, Windsor Thomas Hetherwick of Natchitoches; his nephews Ronald Eston Corkern III, Matthew Randall Lucky, Joel Edwin Lucky, and Windsor Thomas Hetherwick II; nieces Amy Corkern Scott and Laura Hetherwick Seymour; and several great-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Minor Basilica Immaculate Conception Restoration Fund, 145 Church Street, Natchitoches, LA 71457; or the Natchitoches Historic Foundation, P.O. Box 2351, Natchitoches, LA 71457.
The family expresses special thanks to the Carcinoid Cancer Team, Dr. Woltering, Dr. Boudreaux, Dr. Ramcharan and all the medical staff at the Ochsner Kenner Medical Center in Kenner, LA. In addition, the family thanks the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, Hospice of Natchitoches, Ellen Mathis and Mandy Brown, for their love and care for Robby during his final days.
