Nina Bell Johnson, 95 years of age, passed away on June 8, 2017, in Natchitoches, LA. She was born October 21, 1921, to Robert Tolbert Shumate and Zeddie Eugenia Strickland Shumate in Montgomery, LA. She was a very strong and independent woman; and a loving mother and friend. She made her family "Tow the Line", so to speak, but losing her husband at a young age and raising five children on her own required high morals and a strong will. Everyone loved her, and she was very well respected in her community. She was a strong Christian, and member of Northside Baptist Church. Her family always came first in everything she did, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Thelma J Thompson and her husband DeWayne of Montgomery, LA; two sons, James Johnson of Urania, LA and his special friend Jean Purvis and Frank Marlon Johnson and his wife Angellena of Natchitoches, LA; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a very special person and caretaker, Michelle Williams of Natchitoches, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Johnson; her son, Larry A. Johnson; her daughter, Elizabeth Johnson Dyson; her parents, Robert Tolbert Shumate and Zeddie Eugenia Strickland Shumate; five sisters; and one brother. Those honored to be pallbearers will be Eric Dyson, Dustin Dyson, Michael Johnson, Huey Johnson, Tema Brouillette, Chris Pinder. Edward Dyson, Clint Sharbino, Paul Purvis, Wayne Lovell, Gene Longino, Roy Longino, Harris Lynn Longino, and Kenneth "Bubba" Bazar are honored to serve as honorary pallbearers.
