Barbara Dorsey Jordan Gibson

Funeral services for Barbara Gibson will be held at 2:00 pm on June 29, 2017, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Thomas K. Smith III officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery near Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home on Thursday prior to the services. Barbara Gibson, 68 years of age, passed away on June 26, 2017, in Natchitoches, LA. She was born January 29, 1949, in Latexo, TX. She was a strong and faith-filled lady, always depending on her faith in Jesus to get her through any circumstance. She was an amazing caregiver to her daughter and family, and always lived life to the fullest. She never met a stranger, and always enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother, she had a great love for flowers, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, John Gibson of Flora, LA; her son, James Lee Jordan, Jr. and wife Mary of Natchitoches, LA; her step-son, Blane Gibson and wife Laura of Baton Rouge, LA; her son-in-law, Houston Allen Colbert; her grandchildren, Cody Jordan, Allen Ferrell Colbert and wife Leah, Shelby Rachal, Paul Colbert, Amanda Gibson, and Ryan Gibson; her great-grandchildren, Tanner Colbert, Ethan Colbert, Brentlee Colbert, Korbyn Colbert; and Bentley Parish; her brother, James Dorsey of Cold Springs, TX; her sisters, Margie Price and husband Asa of Conroe, TX, Sammy Danner and husband John of Latexo, TX, Mary Wilson and husband Elton of New Caney, TX, Rosemary Smith and husband Rev. Thomas K. Smith III of Natchitoches, LA, and Doris Griggs and husband John of Brian, TX; and her special friend, Linda Ron of New Caney, TX. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Lee Jordan, Sr.; her parents, Sam H. Dorsey and Ivy "Lillie" Patton Dorsey; her daughter, Rachel Renee Colbert; and her sister, Betty Pettengill.
