Funeral services for Carolyn Boydstun Masson, 77, of Cloutierville, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches with the Rev. Billy Shugart officiating. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18 at the funeral home.
She was born April 14, 1940, in Natchitoches and passed away Friday, July 14 at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.
She was a graduate of Northwestern State University, earning a degree in health and physical education. She was a teacher, coach and substitute teacher for many years.
She loved time spent outdoors hunting, fishing and birdwatching. She also enjoyed cooking, painting, woodworking, meeting friends for weekly games of dominos and pokeno, and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson M. and Willie Ethel Morris Boydstun of Natchitoches.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Clyde Harold Masson Jr. of Cloutierville; sons Clyde Harold “Trey” Masson III and wife Angie, and Patrick Masson and wife Tonya, all of Cloutierville, and William Masson and wife Stephanie of Natchitoches; daughter Terri Masson of Cloutierville; grandchildren Summer Gratham Beebe of Ball, Hunter Masson, Emma Masson, Sydney Masson and Dayde Masson, all of Cloutierville.
Pallbearers include Darrell Hickman, Darrell Basco, Dewayne George, Jeffery Masson, Stephen Masson and Jeffery Rollo. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Rains, Charles Roge', and Ronny Watters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
