A service to celebrate the life of Faye Parks will be at 1 pm on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Beulah Methodist Church in Marthaville, LA. Danny Forsythe and Jimmy Barnhill will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Beulah Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches.
Faye Barnhill Parks passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born September 1, 1922, to Robert and Minnie Ingram Barnhill in Marthaville, LA.
Faye is survived by her son, Kenneth Wayne Parks and wife Jackie of Marthaville, LA; grandchildren, Laura Parks Forsythe and husband Danny of Natchitoches, Ladonna Parks of Marthaville, and Kevin Wayne Parks and wife Sonya of Marthaville; great grandchildren, Hannah and Anna Grace Forsythe, Austin Parks, Layton Parks, and Triston Graves and wife Emily; and a great-great grandchild due in February 2018; and a sister, De Lourse Barnhill Veillion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Minnie Ingram Barnhill; husband of 43 years, Otto Parks; son, Otis Ray Parks; grandson in law, Jon Nicholls; grandsons, Landon Lane McConathy Parks and Jason Alexandria Cryer; sisters, Edelene Shirley, Blanche Roe, Ruby Berly; brothers, Roy Barnhill, Adrian “Dick” Barnhill, Glenn Barnhill, Joe Barnhill, and Rufus “Bill” Barnhill.
Affectionately known as “Granny”, she was a longtime member of Beulah Methodist Church in Marthaville. Her favorite activities were fishing, reading, cooking for the holidays, picking and shelling pecans, her weekly trip to Judy’s Beauty Shop, reading her Bible daily and spending time with her family. Granny was known for her famous spice sugar pecans.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Jimmy Barnhill, Kevin Parks, Tristan Graves, Mike Veillion, Donnie Parks, and Bo McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be John Earl Roe, Austin Parks, and Layton Parks. A special “thanks” to Carmen Davis for providing music for the service.
