Myrtis Marie Knotts Alexander, age 90, of Natchitoches, LA, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009, at Willis-Knighton Pierremont in Shreveport, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5 PM until 9 PM on Thursday, October 1, 2009. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Natchitoches, LA, at 10 AM on Friday, October 2, 2009, with Rev. Thomas Rush officiating. Interment will be held at Memory Lawn Cemetery following the service. Mrs. Myrtis was a retired nurse, having graduated from the Charity Hospital School of Nursing in February of 1940. She worked at Natchitoches Parish Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Natchitoches, LA, where she attended the Ruth Sunday School Class, the W.M.U., and served as Chairman of The Homebound Ministry for several years. She had a strong Christian faith that greatly influenced her children and grandchildren and was a testimony to all who knew her. Mrs. Myrtis was a loving, caring, and delightful person, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Kim Ford and husband John of Monroe, WA, Robin Anderson and husband John of Monroe, WA, Shelley Havlik of Issaquah, WA, Sandra Whittington and husband Matt of Renton, WA, Sheri Bell and husband Mike of Grand Prairie, TX, Bryan Touchet, MD, and wife Karen of Tulsa, OK, Bradley Touchet, MD, and wife Sarah of Alexandria, LA, and Jason Cox and wife Alanda of Tulsa, OK; eleven great grandchildren, Montana Rae Miller, Isabella Ford, Hunter Jerochim, Gregory Anderson, Connor Touchet, Lilliana Touchet, Alexander Touchet, Benjamin Touchet, Katherine Touchet, Emily Touchet, and Gabriel Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 and one half years, George Melvin Alexander; two daughters, Mary Ellen Havlik and Gloria Jean Bailey; her mother and father, William and Ada (Pruett) Knotts; twelve sisters and brothers; and one great grandchild, Colby Alexander Anderson.
