A memorial service to honor the life of Roy Edwin Bailey, Jr. will be Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Freedom Life Church, located at 1530 Keyser Ave, Natchitoches, LA 71457.
Mr. Bailey, 88, was born to Roy and Alpha Bailey in Texarkana, Texas, April 4, 1929, and departed this life to his heavenly home July 8, 2017, with his family at his bedside.
Known as “Cracker” Bailey to many, he retired from Nabisco in 1991 after 41 years of service and became a locksmith as a hobby where he donated his services to churches, the elderly and anyone in need. He was a committed Christian and served in the capacity of deacon, Sunday school director, board member and a member of the choir, among other duties as the Lord called him.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eloise (Morton) Bailey; two sons, Chip Bailey of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Robert “Joey” Bailey and wife Kelly of Alexandria; Louisiana; three grandsons, Joshua Bailey and wife Kristina of Orlando, Florida, and Jason and Destin Bailey of Lafayette, Louisiana; two granddaughters, Kristyn “Krissy” Bailey of Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Kellye Bailey Rigsby of Waco, Texas; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Ruth Grubbs of Nashville, Tennessee.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
This gentle, quiet spoken man will be missed by many.
