Fulton Virgil Clark, Jr., known as “FV” to his family and friends was born in Shreveport, LA on August 3, 1932 and died on October 1, 2017 in Natchitoches, LA. He is survived by three sons, Randy (Maridee), Rex (Sheila) and Rickey (Lisa), and daughter Corine (Brian). FV is also survived by his sister, Sadie Hall (Mike), sister-in-law Lorraine Clark, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Carol and brother Chester.
FV worked a full career as a measurement / corrosion technician for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation and retired after 40+ years. He began his career in Longview TX, moved to Logansport, LA and later was promoted to a supervisor’s position in Little Rock. After retirement, Fulton moved to Natchitoches where he was a member of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church. He enjoyed calling Natchitoches his home until his death.
He taught himself electronics and computer programming and was instrumental in setting up remote natural gas pipeline monitoring stations for his company. He was a fixer of things and an excellent “jack of all trades”. Any machine, mechanical or electrical, that he found broken, he would attempt a repair, and more often than not, was successful in getting it working again.
Fulton had a passion for sports, especially baseball and tennis. He could be found at the local tennis courts after work in his khaki work pants and t-shirt playing a set or two with his coworkers, his children or the local kids. The little league baseball program in Logansport, LA where he lived for 20 years, has its roots in the organized league he helped establish in 1964. He recruited most of the merchants in Logansport to sponsor teams and the league quickly grew to 8 teams, including 2 teams from surrounding communities. He allowed all players he coached to call him by his first name, “Mr.”. He was a very active member of the booster programs at each of his children’s schools and he was well known as the “barker” of seat cushions at Logansport High School football games.
