Henry Rachal, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Henry Rachal, Sr. will be celebrated at 11 am Friday, January 26, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cloutierville, LA with Rev. John O’Brien serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7 pm on Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Rachal, 82 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches Parish, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018, in Alexandria, LA. He was born on August 22, 1935, to Joe and Cora Rachal in Natchitoches Parish. He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Horace Rachal, Raymond Rachal, Sr., Nora Balthazar, Henrietta Beaudion, Florence Beaudion, Elmore Rachal, Roy Rachal, Bertha Byonne, Lucille Conde and Julia Rachal; father and mother in law, Alcide and Louise Beaudion; as well as a great-grandson, Kaleb Dunn. Henry worked for many years at Louisiana College and later at NSU where he ultimately retired after many years of service. A hard worker, he was an excellent provider for his family. He was a devout Catholic man who held firm to his beliefs and was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cloutierville. He will be dearly missed but always remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and godfather to many. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Beaudion Rachal; children, Audrey Dunn (Buddy), Carolyn Dupree (Leo), Donald Rachal (late wife Lydia), Henry Rachal, Jr. (Catherine), Connie Rachal Gallion and Kimberly Rachal Raymond; sister, Cecile Monette; and a brother, Clarence Rachal. He was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, many godchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
